In the works for a few years, the DDA has purchased the gas station at 505 N. Main in downtown Milford (NW corner of Commerce and Main).
Commerce Road drops to the west approximately 15 feet from this corner, providing ideal geography for a cantilevered parking deck over the existing Mill Pond Plaza parking field. Potentially, the existing building would be demolished and a new, zero-lot-line building---mirroring the three story McMartin building to the southeast---would take its place, allowing for a mixed use development that may include new downtown residential spaces.
Proposed concept to replace gas station.
Update: The project has received unanimous approval from the Planning Commission and the Village Council.
Next steps: Negotiate a Development Agreement with the selected Developer
The Milford DDA has purchased the former Kelsey-Hayes/TRW site on the north Mill Pond in downtown Milford. Approximately 6.5 acres, the site is situated at the heart of the downtown, close enough to the Central Business District to augment the municipal parking supply and provide another opportunity for a linear park along the west side of the Mill Pond. Planners and DDA Board members envision a hotel at this site, and, given the opportune market conditions will provide economic development incentives for the project.
